Monday, July 18th - showing our Swiss Homestay Guest one of Nanaimo's treasures...This photo was a Blue Heron we watched for a while as it appeared to be 'fishing. First thing we saw it catch and eat was a crab. Then after a bit we saw it pick up and start trying to eat a very surprising animal = a SNAKE! I was not terribly close, but still got a good photo with zoom. I'm not sure if it is a regular diet item, or if this bird thought he was catching a very long, skinny fish!
